Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated November 2, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy applies to everyone who uses Hereby: workspace members, and the viewers and signers they invite. It is part of our Terms of Service.
You may not use Hereby to
- Break any law, or help someone else break it, including export control, sanctions, securities and consumer protection laws.
- Store or share content that you do not have the right to share, or that infringes someone's intellectual property, privacy or other rights.
- Share child sexual abuse material, content that promotes terrorism or violent extremism, or content that threatens, harasses or incites violence against people.
- Send spam, phishing or other unsolicited bulk messages, including signing requests or data room invitations to people who did not expect them.
- Impersonate a person or organisation, forge a signature, or ask someone to sign a document under false pretences.
- Commit fraud, including fake invoices, investment scams or fabricated contracts or records.
- Upload malware, or use the Service to host or distribute it.
- Collect special categories of personal data (such as health data) or payment card numbers in signing fields unless the law allows it and you have the needed safeguards.
You may not misuse the Service
- Probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Service without our written permission. (We welcome responsible security reports at [email protected].)
- Get around plan limits, rate limits, access controls or security measures.
- Access another workspace's data, or a data room or envelope you were not invited to.
- Overload the Service, or use automated means to access it other than through our API within its limits.
- Copy, resell or build a competing product from the Service, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows.
What happens if the policy is broken
We may remove or disable content, revoke share links, pause envelopes, or suspend members, workspaces or API tokens that break this policy. Where reasonable, we will tell the workspace owner first and give them a chance to fix the problem. In serious cases (for example illegal content, fraud or attacks on the Service) we may act immediately and report to the authorities.
Reporting abuse
If you receive a suspicious signing request or data room link that appears to come from Hereby, or you see content that breaks this policy, email [email protected] with the link or envelope ID.
